Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482)
This temporary employment sponsored visa lets an employer sponsor a suitably skilled worker to fill a position they can’t find a suitably skilled Australian to fill.
Streams Available
- Short-term stream:
This visa stream enables employers to address short term labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker. It is for skilled workers in occupations included on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL). - Stay: Up to 2 years or up to 4 years if an International Trade Obligation (ITO) applies.
- Cost: From AUD 1,265
- Medium-term stream:
This visa is for 4 years. It is for workers in occupations included on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). It allows the holder to apply for permanent residence after three years. - Stay: Up to 4 years
- Cost: From AUD 2,645
- Labour agreement stream:
This visa is for skilled workers nominated by an employers with a Labour Agreement. It lets you live and work in Australia temporarily. - Stay: Up to a maximum of 4 years, depending on the terms in the labour agreement.

Employer Nomination Scheme (SUBCLASS 186)
The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) allows Australian employers to sponsor employees who are foreign nationals for a permanent visa to work in Australia. This visa is for Australian employers who want to sponsor highly skilled workers for a permanent visa to work in their business. The employee can be either a highly skilled worker from overseas or a highly skilled temporary resident currently in Australia to get sponsored.
Who is eligible for the Employer Nomination Scheme?
Visa applicants who currently are in or outside of Australia and have a prospective sponsor can apply for employment sponsored visa & Position Requirements for the Employer Nomination Scheme. & Position Requirements for the Employer Nomination Scheme.
To participate in the Employer Nomination Scheme, the employer must:
- be actively and lawfully operating a business in Australia
- have a genuine need for a paid employee to fill a position in their business
- follow all relevant Australian laws and have a satisfactory record of meeting immigration laws (if applicable)
- have met training benchmark requirement
- provide the employee with an offer of permanent employment
The nominated position must meet the following requirements:
- be full-time paid employment, ongoing and available for at least 2 years from the date of visa grant
- provide working conditions that are no less favorable than provided for under the relevant Australian legislation and awards
- be a highly skilled occupation that is on the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL) and it must meet the minimum salary level for ENS.

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa (SUBCLASS 494)
Provisional Visa
This is a five-year provisional visa (replaced the former Subclass 187 visa) which gives the applicant temporary immigration and residency with a pathway option for permanent immigration after meeting certain requirements.
Requirements for a Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa
The visa requires nomination lodged by your employer must have been approved in a designated region of Australia or from a State or Territory Government (NSW, VIC, SA, WA, QLD, TAS, NT, and ACT). Regional areas include everywhere except the metropolitan areas of; Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane.
Benefits of the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa
This visa gives the applicant and his or her immediate family temporary residency and permanent residency once the living in that particular region and full-time employment conditions are satisfied. Once the applicant has lived for three years and worked full-time for three year in nominated field and regional area of Australia permanent residency is available.
Visa holders are eligible for Australian Medicare for the life of this visa. And able to move between the regional areas.

Training And Temporary Activity VISA (SUBCLASS 407 AND 408)
This visa allows you to take part in structured workplace-based training to enhance your skills in your current occupation, area of tertiary study, or field of expertise, participate in a professional development training program in Australia after being invited to do so, or observe or participate in an Australian research project after being invited to do so..
If you are intending to undertake occupational training or participate in classroom based professional development programme, you may apply for Training visa (subclass 407). In addition, you may apply Temporary Activity visa (subclass 408) if you are an academic who is invited to collaborate in a research project, a student or recent graduate who wants to undertake a research activity related to your field of study, and an elite sportsperson participating in high level sports training.
